The Department of Science at the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC), Lima, Peru, invites applications for a full-time Research and Teaching Faculty position. We seek an established scientist with a strong research record, demonstrated academic leadership, and extensive university-level teaching experience.

The Department of Science provides foundational courses in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to students across engineering, computing, and related undergraduate programs. We welcome candidates specializing in Physics and Applied Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, or closely related disciplines. Applicants whose research promotes interdisciplinary collaboration are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain an independent, internationally competitive research program, secure external funding, publish in high-quality scientific journals, lead research teams, and establish national and international collaborations. Responsibilities also include mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and contributing to the Department’s teaching activities.

Candidates must demonstrate experience teaching diverse foundational science courses, particularly to engineering students at introductory undergraduate levels, and the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and rigorously in Spanish.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.

• Strong and sustained scientific productivity in internationally indexed, peer-reviewed journals.

• Demonstrated experience securing competitive external research funding and leading research projects.

• Ability to develop an independent, financially sustainable research program and manage research teams.

• Proven experience teaching multiple foundational university-level science courses relevant to the Department’s curriculum.

• Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Fluency in Spanish, with excellent communication skills and the ability to teach university-level courses effectively in Spanish. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as Principal Investigator of externally funded research projects.

• Publications in high-impact journals and established international research collaborations.

• Experience supervising graduate theses and leading research groups.

• Experience teaching foundational science courses to students from diverse engineering disciplines.
